I believe both are important. For me personally, I learn quicker by seeing how it is done and then I can perform the required job or task set before me.
Describe the benefits of working with others
By working with other we become a team and a team can always accomplish more than one person can by working alone. Also by working with others, I can always learn more from team members and teach others what I know. Between the "team", fewer mistakes are made, time is saved and possibly even lives are are also.
