Sports, Automotive, Food Service What qualifications do you hold? I have worked for many years with a catering company for a bed and breakfast, BOH and FOH at the Georgia World Congress Center during several Microsoft events, also doing personal catering for large organizations. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I believe that your ability to pick up skills quickly have a slight edge over formal education when it comes to particular jobs. The formal education shows your ability to learn and grasp concepts and ideas. They can both work hand in hand, depending on the nature of the job. Describe the benefits of working with others As I draw from my personal experience being a part of a sports team for the last 20 years, I think of all the things I have learned in that environment. Some of the most important benefits include communication, patience, and problem solving, and just working together for one common goal. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone can be beneficial if you have a schedule to follow. You can pace yourself to get your work done on time. You will be held responsible for your own productivity, which holds you accountable for your work load. What was your worst working experience? My worst work experience was as a professional basketball player being on a losing team. I only won 10 games out of a 30 game season that year. I had always been on winning teams or Championship level teams in the past. I was making great money, but the fact that our team was losing, was the worst year of my career. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Stay positive and for me it's better to wrk as a team instead of an individual. What unique skills do you have? I am an experienced team leader skilled in developing and maintaining harmonious relationships with others while encouraging an appreciation for diversity. I also possess strong organizational and communication skills. I am adept at resolving conflicts and managing crises with the utmost professionalism. I'm also very creative, dedicated, and proficient at working in a myriad of environments, both independently and cooperatively as a team player. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? I would love to have my own catering business in the future. I have worked for others and would love to take the knowledge and skills I have obtained together and start my own business. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? I get to work with new people every week and assess their needs. I have also developed my negotiation skills while cultivating new dealer relationships. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? The least interesting aspect would be making many phone calls on a daily basis. I would rather be speaking face to face with the customers I work with. What is the longest time you have lived away from the U.S.A? I have lived overseas for 10 consecutive years for 8-9 months at a time with only a 10 day break for Christmas as vacation.
