I teach Motor Vehicle Technology, Motor vehicle workshop practice at Tecnician level as well as Diploma Level. I also teach Technical Drawing, Motor vehicle Science and Workshop Practice and Process. I belong to Sadic group of countries where visa is not a requirement What field do you currently work in? I am lecturing in the Field of Automotive Engineering Where? I work at Botswana College of Engineering and Tecnology in the Mechanical Department. What qualifications do you hold? 1)I hold a City and Guilds Full Tecnological Certificate after having passed Parts II and III Motor vehicle Technician' Certificate Exams. 2) Technical Teacher's Diploma (TVTC Zambia) 3) Advanced Automotive Technician's Certificate (Notec, Zambia) Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? My answer to this is both. One should start with formal education inorder to do well in vocational education where skill is being developed. Describe the benefits of working with others Working with others promotes team work, easy completion of tasks, reduces tiredness and finally opens the brain of the individual.Creates job opportunies for others. Describe the benefits of working alone One does not report to anybody, all money earned from any job comes into one's pocket. One reports for work any time he/she feels like. What was your worst working experience? When my previvous supervisor denied me chance to study for an HND in Automotive Engineering in the UK after I was admitted at one of the Institution up there. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Not to do things in a hurry. One should be sober and take time before making a deesion. Mistakes are costly. What unique skills do you have? I am an Automotive Technician who can work on any vehicle without any difficuly. I am also a gardener who can grow vegetables in motor vehicle old tires,pots and bags with easy. I am also a photographer and vediographer. I edit my own ideos as well. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? At my age of 59 yaers old now, I would wish to work as a motor vehicle lecturer or Instructor since the job I have been doing since 1983. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? My field is one of the few fields today that keeps on changing with technology.This means that we, mechanics have to keep pace with the changing motor vehicle technology. If one becomes lazy, he will be retired with the famous Land Rover 109. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? When I fail to repair a vehicle fault on a vehicle I am working on. Also being in school forever due to new technology that has been introduced in our motor industry. Why do I like Back yard gardening? Gardening is a Science. It makes my mind happy when my three children harvest what I have grown. Gardening has saved me in times of need especially when I had no money. It has also added a luxury of life to my table.
