| How and when do I use the homestead act for a debt? A credit card company is suing me and I can not pay. Cant pay to file bankruptcy either and the free legal aid service ( I live in Alabama) told me they were too busy to help. I do not have a job or bank account but am concerned about my home. I have heard something about a homestead act and would appreciate any information on it. Is this a form I need to turn in to the court? Do I do this before or after a judgment is made? Is it only after I hear they are trying to take my house? Please help. I cant afford to file bankruptcy can I use this without that? I cant afford to file bankruptcy can I use this without that? |
