Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?
I find that they are both valuable. Especially in a field like accounting where skills can be learned in the field as well as in the classroom. However, for a Senior Accounting Position a designation is mandatory.

Working at an Automobile dealership. Have you ever worked with used car salesmen? Enough said!:)
What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?
That you alway get out what you put in.
What unique skills do you have?
Excellent technical knowledge of Accounting Concepts and Principals Good sense of humour, gets along well with everyone. Good sense of what is appropriate.
What would you consider as your 'dream job'?
Controller on demand. For small companies that do not need a full time controller. Go in to different companies and set up procedures and controls, reconcile accounts, get things ready for the auditor. Produce financial statements on a monthly/quarterly basis for them.
What are the most interesting aspects of your field?
Although there is not an abundance of interesting aspects of Insurance Accouting as compared to software or other industries they do have their own unique nuances. Reinsurance is perhaps the most difficult asspect and the most interesting. Claims after a hurricane are quite exciting as well:)
What are the least interesting aspects of your field?
Regular mundane aspects of accounting.
What do you like about living/working on an island?
I love the lifestyle! I love how you must wear many hats! Because the companies are typically small you may get to be involved in other aspects, sales, marketing,building maintenance, human resources, ordering toner:),
