Cheryl Gilligan (199.99.195.10) -

What type of job are you looking for?

I am looking for a nursing job, preferrably in a PACU in Antarctica.I have heard the opportunities are great and the experience is amazing, would love to receive information.

What nationality are you?

I am a Caucasian,Irish ethnicity, born in raised in the good "ole USA",would like to see this part of the world.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

English,some Spanish

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am looking to make some great money at this time in my career, would love to incorporate travel at the same time if possible.

What countries have you worked in?

Only the USA

What field do you currently work in?

I am a registered nurse in a busy PACU in Boise,Idaho

What fields have you worked in before?

School nursing, outpatient ambulatory care,PACU,office nursing in Cardiovascular/Internal Medicine practice.

What qualifications do you hold?

I currently hold an RN license in two states,Idaho&Nevada,am ACLS&PALS certified,am involved in the education department of my unit, providing inservices on various anesthesia related subjects.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I believe in both to support a competent practice, but I believe that experience is immeasureable in nursing practice.

Describe the benefits of working with others

I have learned more about myself in working with others.I feel that my practice and experience has allowed me to fine-tune my people skills,ie,communication mainly.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Working alone allows more focus, and is needed at times in practice

What was your worst working experience?

I haven't encountered it yet,I love what I do

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

The value of connecting with others in the vastness of life experiences.I have learned that convincing a patient (and their family) that I am with them during their experience is utmost, showing them patience and tolerance in the face of their difficulty, and while you may not win everyone over,it's possible to come away from each experience encountered with a positive take.

What unique skills do you have?

I'm not sure about this question.I have raised 4 children to adulthood, all with college degrees after the death of my husband almost 18 years ago,so that has brought several experiences to me which I believe have required me to develop some fine-tuned coping skills.I have acquired several homemaking skills with regards to cooking, baking, crafting,ie,knitting, sewing,I play the guitar and the country fiddle. These aren't unique, but have allowed me to indulge my creative side while keeping up with my educational pursuits with my career.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

I have always had my dream job--NURSING--no matter where or how!

Constantly changing, ever dynamic field of nursing. There's always something new to learn, experience, and grow from

Travel&work together, continue to learn and expand my skills
