Pharmaceutical background What type of job are you looking for? I'd like to maintain my current line of work being pharmaceutical sales, however I am open to any new opportunities within the medical industry. What nationality are you? South African What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English - Fluently Afrikaans What country or area are you looking to work in and why? Antigua, Carribean..I also have a passion for boats and sailing. My home country is focused on fitness and out door lifestyle. Back home I get involved with many aspects of sport and adventure living life attitude is a big thing for me. Antigua has the same appeal What countries have you worked in? England What countries do you have a visa to work in? none but do have a us visa currently. What field do you currently work in? Medical Representative - Anti infectives What fields have you worked in before? Marketing/Sales/hospitality/training/sports/ What qualifications do you hold? IMM marketing management Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Both are important. In my opinion an education serves as a fundamental base of which to build a career. The skills developed along the way mould your ablity to excell. A proactive and functional candidate is one with 30% education and 70% skill. Describe the benefits of working with others Others may bring a new persective on things. People have different experiences and therefore different ideas. People who all think along the same lines have no diversity and often no lateral thinking. Very seldom are great things achieved alone, team work is an excellent concept which should create synergy and interaction. Describe the benefits of working alone There are no distractions. There is no micro management and the sense of being watched which creates nervousness and subsequently poor performance. Working alone is also very rewarding What was your worst working experience? Demotivation. This does occur at times in situations of high pressure and in hostile competitive environments where sales targets are unrealistic. Been there..done that! Attitude however is an amazing thing. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? When times are bad never give up. It's important to find an interest and stick to what you know, build on your strengths and always maintain high morals. Respect people of all levels. What unique skills do you have? I am able to "sell myself" well. In life people sell themselves badly, in everyday conversation..it's a personality. If people like you then you've sold yourself well and people will trust you. They will also listen to you and will probably buy from you. This and a few other concepts is all you need in sales or a business related environment. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Teaching people to have fun, weather that be sailing a boat catching a fish or using a product to improve there lifestyle. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Phsychology. The efficacy of Medicine is largely in the mind of the consumer. Ever heard of green pain tablets working better than white ones? or yellow ones? Everyone will have their own views on which ones work best. Very strange when the API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) is exactly the same.. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Sales features of medicine. A mercedes bendz or bmw has features that will blow your socks off. Medicine on the other hand is rather boring. Emphasis is on benefits, side effect profile etc. There is also a lot of red tape with legal issues and goverment intervention. Why would a potential employer offer you a job when you have no visa and curently live in South Africa? The internet brings even rescourses from Africa to the rest of the world. As a white South African aged 32 I have reached a stage in life where I want to make a difference abroad. I have a good sound knowledge of business and people and trust that my marketing studies will ad value to any organisation. I have no intention to live permanently abroad as I love my country. I simply am looking for an oportunity to broaden my experiences. How can potential employers contact you?
