Teaching English as a Second Language
I am looking for a teaching administration position. What nationality are you? Canadian, American What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English What country or area are you looking to work in and why? Antigua is my first choice. I have had a very long interest in this country. What countries have you worked in? USA, and Canada What countries do you have a visa to work in? Not sure, however I have a valid passport. What field do you currently work in? English as a Second Language. I have 3 years experience with children, 7 years with adults and presently I teach high school students in a high school in London, On. What fields have you worked in before? Canada Post, Amway of Canada, What qualifications do you hold? I have a BA.Ed, and have ESL Part 1, 2, and Specialist (additional qualifications) from the Unversity of Western Ontario, London, ON. I took a course teaching Aboriginal Children last year and found the similarities astonishing. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? That is very difficult to answer because I highly value both. The formal education gives the theory for why you are teaching a certain subject and the skills gives you the opportunity to experience the "doing" of the subject area. Describe the benefits of working with others Collaboration is vital in the teaching field. You gain ideas from others and the sense of helping others when you share your own ideas. "Two heads are better than one" If is really important to make friends as this will help in your adaptation of a new country. Describe the benefits of working alone Solitude is a blessing when you have some heavy thinking to do. I do this first trying to figure something out, and then go to others for their input. What was your worst working experience? I had a supervisor that was right in my face every day, with a critical eye for everything. She was not liked by anyone, she acted like she didn't trust us. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? The listen first and talk second. What unique skills do you have? I have a passion for my students and their learning. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? I dream job is where I work hard and it is noticed. My dream job is where I see good solid results from my teaching. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Learning about other cultures is amazing for me. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? marking Have you ever had to volunteer just in the hopes fo emplyment. Yes, I volunteered in 5 schools hoping to get some supply work and possibly employment before I received a permanent full time job. How can potential employers contact you?
