Special needs, History, Humanities (GCSE Level) English KSg3 supporting pupils across the curriculum in all subjects working closing with colleagues to ensure that pupils reached their full potential. What qualifications do you hold? BA History MA Ed SEN, BEd, Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Both as one enables the other teaching is not just imparting information it is the opportuity to enhance pupils education by encouraging them to explore their imagination and to reach their full potential. Describe the benefits of working with others Learning is life long and it is through others that we learn and improve ourselves. We learn alot from not only our colleagues but pupils and support staff as well. Describe the benefits of working alone Time alone allows us to focuss on what we want to acheive as well as allowing us to absorb what we have learnt. What was your worst working experience? Not being given the opportunity to develop my own style the teaching methods were to prescriptive and out dated. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? To listen before speaking or taking action and to admit when you have made a mistake. What unique skills do you have? I consider my self to be firm fair & flexible .I can see the whole person and teach the person as a whole and can see were my subject fits in with the curriculum and can link subjects to other areas of the curriculum and life to keep students interested. I have worked with young peole with severe Learning Needs, who through their own endeavours have achieved so much. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Working in a job tht allows pupils to grow and reach their full potential were noone gives up on a student because they learn in a different or unique way. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Seeing that by adapting teaching methods or teaching materials all pupils can learn and achieve (SEN). Bringing the past to life by putting it in a context the pupils understand, liking it to an every day activity or relating a historic figure to a well known icon of today (History). What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Paper work, marking. What do you most enjoy about teaching The expression on pupils faces when they realise what they can achieve and the recognition that we are all good at something.
