Seeking for employment in accountancy

What type of job are you looking for?

preferably to work for a firm of Charartered Accountants or a commercial firm involving total accounting function.

What nationality are you?

Citizen of United Kingdom

(I am of Indian origin)

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

English - fluent

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Australia (any area considered)

Because I find that most businesses use MYOB software which I am familear and more importantly, having worked in the UK I find that the accounting system and taxation are similer to UK

What countries have you worked in?

Malawi and UK

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

United Kingdom

What field do you currently work in?

preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and companies and business taxation.

What fields have you worked in before?

I have always worked for small to medium sized firms of Chartered Accountants in London (for 22 years) and in Mansfield, Nottingshire, UK for 6 years.

My work has always been to prepare final accounts for sole traders, partnerships and companies and preparing business taxation.

What qualifications do you hold?

Two year course in Foundation and Post Foundation in Accounting and Finance from Huddersfield University in Yorkshire, England.

Obtained exemption from all the subjects excepting the final 4 subjects of the Chartered Association of Certified Accounts (ACCA) in UK (not a member of ACCA)

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

In my view both are equally important. However skills will enable one to perform tasks to accepatable standard and on time which is important when job costing on fees chargeable to clients is considered.

Describe the benefits of working with others

discussing on planning and approach to tasks mutual sharing of work loads to meet deadlines learning from others' experience and skills building relationships and trust

freedom to choose working hours freedom in planning to meet deadlines satisfaction in seeing work done to accaptable standard challenged in making own decisions complying to standards

What was your worst working experience?

lack of cooperation from management

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

commitment and hardwork

What unique skills do you have?

preparing final accounts and business taxation

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

Total responsibility for all the accounting function including preparation of final accounts with all supporting schedules to be presented to the auditors.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Preparing accounts and tax planning

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

Situations where I have failed to receive support or delayed experienced from a team player

More about my experience and expectations

I am an accountant by experience. I have acquired accounting skills working for Chartered Accountants in England. I have had systematic training which has enabled me to move on to become a sole practitioner handling all aspects of work normally carried out in a small, busy accounting office. I have worked hard with commitment to meeting deadlines and to acceptable standard.
