Bahrain - Teaching Jobs

Thomas Lewis

Primary School

What type of job are you looking for?

I am looking for an opportunity to teach in Bahrain. I have had 4 years experience teaching the British Curriculum and now would like a new challenge in Bahrain. I have co-ordinated PE, Science, IT, Educational Visits and Design and Technology during my time as a teacher and am able and willing to extend this experience by co-ordinating other subjects.

What nationality are you?

British.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

French- good conversational level. Chinese (Mandarin)

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Bahrain. I have a good friend who works there and I would like to experience a new challenge and would like to learn aboout Middle Eastern Culture too.

What countries have you worked in?

England, France, Taiwan, Spain, and Wales.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

Europe.

What field do you currently work in?

Primary Education

What fields have you worked in before?

Teaching English as a Foreign Language, Project Management, Customer Service, Community Development work, Advertising Sales, Subscription Sales, Telephone Sales (cold calling and with leads).

What qualifications do you hold?

BSc Social Policy and Administration CELTA TEFL Qualification Post Graduate Certificate in Community Developement and Project management. Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Education

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I feel both have their place. Education is a very good basis of knowledge to build upon but can be surpassed by knowledge of a particular industry or role. Skills are constantly picked up and so form part of the professional development within a role.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Sharing ideas and encouraging each other. More can be acheived in a team.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Sole responsibility for achieving goals.Managing your own time. Opportunity to 'self-start' and gain respect for it.

What was your worst working experience?

Working in a factory creating trays for pies. There was not a day when I did not cut my fingers on the razor blades used to separate the trays. Targets were very high and pay was performance related. Night shifts were hard and it was difficult to retain focus and concentration to complete the job.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

To ensure that you ensure your work is of the highest standard at all times.

What unique skills do you have?

I can get on with anyone in any situation and always have a cool head when situations reach high stress.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

To teach orphan children in the Brazilian Jungles; I would teach them English and sports and games.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

I love to see the development of the learner and assessing the next steps. I love getting to know your students and seeing how they learn best. Most of all I love the moment when you see a pupil understanding something you have explained to them.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

At times paperwork can get tedious but without it your lessons woudl never be as good.

Why should you employ me?

I am determined and hard-working and would show integrity, professionalism and empathy when working for your company or school.

How can potential employers contact you?
