Sylvie Vaillancourt (24.235.117.100) -

What type of job are you looking for?

A job where I can work with people and services like a bar job, a hotel job, a receptionist job, and I must say I am very open minded about other types of jobs related.

What nationality are you?

Canadian

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

French: My First language therefore I am excellent in speaking, writing and reading English: My Second language in which I am excellent in speaking, writing and reading French Creole: My grandmother is french creole therefore I am excellent in speaking, reading and writing Spanish: Intermediate level completed however because of lack of practice I have to say I am at an excellent reading level, medium levels for both speaking and writing

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Belize (City) or Caye Caulker Because its been over a year and a half that I rent a house with a boyfriend on Caye Caulker. I moved there October 2008, got a house December 2008, lived there for 10 months, came back to Canada for studies September 2009 to December 2009, came back home to CC for a month between Dec13-Jan10, back to Canada for studies on Jan10, 12days visit Feb20-Mar3, and now I am finishing my University studies next month and will be moving back permanently to the Key.

What qualifications do you hold?

I will be the holder of a completed Bachelor's Degree once I graduate in April 2009. I have travelled extensively to 14 countries. This is a proof that I am easily adaptable, culturally conscious, independent, resourceful and open-minded. I have street smarts because of all my traveling and personal experiences.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I consider skills to be more valuable because they are a true reflection of what a person is capable of doing. Formal education usually benefits persons who have a huge memory capacity to retain the theories and ideas presented in formal education. However, the notes on the papers don't offer an insight to what the person is capable of except proof that he/she can retain sufficient information, perform well on exams and obtain good marks. But theory and practice are two different things and I believe practice is what makes perfect.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Teamwork offers benefits such has bonding, skills sharing, support and a drive to work towards the good of something that holds much people together.

Describe the benefits of working alone

You have full responsibilities and recognition of what you accomplished. It keeps you focussed, concentrated and very attentive to details in order to give your best because you know you lone are responsible and the great pride that comes with knowing you have completed a project on your own thus pushing your limits and making you grow even more.

What was your worst working experience?

I have not encountered bad work experience thankfully!

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Patience is a virtue. Second, that integrity is what matters most.

What unique skills do you have?

I am a very quick learner and my passion is a strong driving force in me. I am good at coming up with project and ideas and problem-solving.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

There are no such thing as a perfect dream job however there are plenty of jobs that can make you happy and to me that's what a dream job is, it is one that makes and keeps you happy :o) Well I'd say that working with people and the public makes me happy.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

It allows me to travel and experience new cultures. It allows me to bring help and assistance to people.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

Having to leave a team behind and start anew on a next mission and not knowing how and if it will work out as good. But then again it brings about new challenges every time ... I always try to see good in everything!

What's your best quality?

My best quality is my passion and dedication.
