Bachelor in Special Education Diploma in Special Education Comtia Certificate Cisco CErtificate Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? They both have there place. First of all formal education has changed over the years and is now very well lacking the basic fundamental principles. In the present economical factors affecting us world wide I would think that skill education plays a very important role. Everyone can learn a skill but not everyone has the capacity and discipline needed for formal education. Even though I personally prefer the idea of formal education , it does have its limitation. As a teacher, I am very much aware that our students are not making the advancements we need them to make to be competitive. Also, it is becoming apparent that many of our children are graduating from college these days and even though they were successful in school, they do not have the ability to apply what they have learned to take it to the next level. They are not risk takers and creators. They are jumping, they are revolving in mid air, and we are all holding our breath; however, they are not landing gracefully on that thin blade poised to take the next step, they are crashing and sliding. Yes, most pick themselves up, brush themselves off, but the points have been deducted. Each time this happens it is more difficult to overcome the bruises, aches, and pains. Children are not being allowed to see and feel the pictures, patterns, and figures in life, for they are not given the time to trace them over and over again until they have them set in their mind. These patterns and figures give them a sure footing.and discipline along life's path which at some parts can be quite slippery. Instead, we are forcing them to bypass the compulsory figures or skills that are considered low level such as memorization and comprehension and jump up to higher level skills such as analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. Some, can jump and accomplish the routine by landing on their feet, and we all take our next breath when this happens, just waiting to see if they can do it again. However, don't we want them to be disciplined and confident, so we do not have to hold our breath to see if they can do it again? For we know they have mastered the basics and can recall it without thought, so they can take it to the next level and be more apt to be risk takers and creators. Part of the reason we do not allow children the opportunity to master memorization and comprehension is for the same reason we hardly ever saw compulsory figures on television because they can be pretty monotonous. Each child learns at his or her own pace and many just need that extra time.If we educate children, across the board this way, I am sure our children will be not only prepared to carry out their duties and responsibilities, they will be overcoming challenges that will benefit us all. They will do it with grace and elegance. It will be breath taking to watch. In conclusion I would say teach skills in formal education. Describe the benefits of working with others We know from our everyday experiences, however, that effective teamwork is not achieved as easily as getting a collection of individuals together. There are important things that the group has to accomplish in order to prove effective. First of all, individuals have to group around a common task or goal that they are trying achieve. Once this is satisfied and group members are aware and agree on the common goal/task, there should be further effort put in to develop and nurture the group as it evolves. Some of the advantages of team work are: a combination of strengths -especially if the team has been chosen carefully, you can get a good range of abilities, fields of expertise and personality types, so for every situation there should be at least one person who can deal with it. a range of opinions - if "two heads are better than one," six can be better still - a group meeting is often very useful for ironing out flaws in a plan, testing it out, spotting pitfalls etc. (though if your team is too big, it can be difficult to reach decisions.) divided responsibility - while ultimate responsibilty rests with the team leader, not much can be achieved without an effective team. The team structure allows those who have strengths in a particular area to take more responsibility for that area. team spirit - a good team, well led, creates loyalty in its members. Not wanting to let your team-mates down can be a powerful motivating force, as can the sense of pride in being part of a successful group. A little rivalry between the team members is also quite healthy as long as it doesn't et out of hand.
