I have 5 years management and 20 years staff therapist concentrating on emergency room and critical care units. I also have 10 years experience as a Certified Pulmonary Technologist. Belize,Equador and Costa Rica because they speak my language and the cost of living is very reasonable as well as having stable governments. What countries have you worked in? Formal education or skills and why? Skills because it is not enough to read a book and pass an exam; it is how you apply the skills you learn for patient care that really matters. Describe the benefits of working with others A team effort allows the responsibility to be shared so that a heavier patient load can be managed.One persons weak area may be a co-workers strength. Describe the benefits of working alone When working solo you can pace yourself so you can spend the time you need to complete patient care. Each person has work experience they have gained to know what "best Prectices" will work best in their situation. What was your worst working experience? Working in a hospital where all the staff was micro-managed by an inexperienced manager.The staff was never asked for input and hasty decisions were made that later had to be recinded because the process wasn't planned appropriately. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Always be willing to be open to increasing knowledge. Always seek to improve your skills; you will never know it all. What unique skills do you have? I am able to put patients as ease and make them comfortable. I listen to the patient;don't approach them with a check off list. In emergency situations I can concentrate on the skills needed to give the necessary care. I also have taught students and inserviced staff; I really enjoy teaching. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? I would like to be a manager in a mid-size hospital where I can be hands-on and teach the staff to improve their skills. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? I like intreracting with physicians and discuss their patients needs.Attending lectures helps improve and upgrade my skills. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Paperwork-a necessary evil.Committees,reports,budgets. What type of work environment would you like to work in? I like to work with other heaalth care providers who treat each other as equals. Each employee has his or her own special skills/training and needs to be recognized for it.
