Zimbabwea stone sculptor , looking for work in Belize
I would like to work in the arts, production of stone and wooden sculpture and painting. I do'nt mind working in a gallery , museum or arts and crafts shop , or help teach art and African dance to children or tourists. Anything in the arts department. What nationality are you? I am a 40 year old African from Zimbabwean What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English , Shona , Ndebele, Zulu and Nyanja What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I would love to work in Belize , in a rural area where i can be in a communal environment where i worl like to teach and learn the culture of the people. I do not like living in the city or arround people who are not community oriented What countries have you worked in? Montreal Canada , Scotland UK and USA What field do you currently work in? I own my own art studio and i own and operate my own janitorial company What fields have you worked in before? Arts and Janitorial What qualifications do you hold? 34 years as a proffessional stone sculptor with works in museums and 10 years as owner and operater of a janitorial service Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Skills, i was born talented and i knew my gifts since i was 6 years old and i have lived as an artist all my life and it is a sure way to have a security in life Describe the benefits of working with others I love working with others because the knowledge can be shared and new ideas are shared and it creates a positive learning place for all Describe the benefits of working alone Peace of mind, and the opotunity to dig deeper inside your own thoughts What was your worst working experience? spending 3 months on a really beautiful sculpture that broke when i was sanding it to finish it What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Do'nt be affraid to use your imagination, imagination is better than knowledge What unique skills do you have? Auto mechanic, stone sculptor, painter , African dance instructor, Reggae DJ What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Working in a musuem with my studio in the back What are the most interesting aspects of your field? I never have an idea of what i am going to produce from the raw stone , it comes to me as i chip away and talk to the stone What are the least interesting aspects of your field?
