chef jobsWhat type of job are you looking for? i am lookin at a job which gives me new challenges and new experinces to do with my food. What nationality are you? British What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English, excellent What country or area are you looking to work in and why? Im at looking at Bermunda, i have spoke to freinds who have worked there and they have told me its an amazing expereance. I also love my seafood and diving, mixed in with the climate its a perfect job. What countries have you worked in? England, i have also worked at sea for 2 years on cruise ships. What countries do you have a visa to work in? I have a c1de visaa to work in american waters. What field do you currently work in? At present i work as a chef de partie on board a cruise ship which carries 2600 passgeres i am left to over see an run the fine dine restaurant of the ship, working with 4 other chefs. i have also done main galley, working with a bigger team to serve the main restaurant of the ship What fields have you worked in before? i have in hotels 5star, restaurants 3,4 rossette, 1 michalin star, cruise ships, private catering and agency. What qualifications do you hold? I have nvq level 2, I also have adae advanced food hygiene level 3, i am also qualified in haccap and basic first aid. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? For me i would have to say my skills im a hands on person whom is incredialy passionate about food,i have come across people who can talk about the job i do but they can't do it. Formal education is still important but your skills an knowledge i think is the back bone of your career. Describe the benefits of working with others You can have an array of knowledge to use at your discression. everyone works together and the whole team can provide lots of experinece for each other, help and guideness Describe the benefits of working alone You know what you need to do and you can do these jobs with very little distractions. What was your worst working experience? I opened a restaurant for a friends parents was promised the world my food, was told i could make it the best i could, they were unfortunitly stuck in the old ways and didn't want change. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Always have something to aim for, targets etc, learn one thing a day most of the time this will be about food but if not learn something. What unique skills do you have? i feel i am Creative, passionate and enthusiastic about food and new experiences and i am motivated by taking on new challenges. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? 50 hrs a week maybe a few more, 1.5 days of a week, sun, beach, diving, fresh food, great food and being able to progress inmy establishment What are the most interesting aspects of your field? learning and being able to travel What are the least interesting aspects of your field? sometimes hours and frozen food, fresh is best! |
