I'd like to start to work as psychologist in private practice or in the public service in Bhutan, if possible. What nationality are you? I'm Italian What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I have quite good english, escellent french, escellent italian. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? In wichever part of Bhutan. I was starting reading and informing myself about living conditions in your country, and I'd found myself more and more curious and interested in trying to live in Bhutan. Also, I'm interested in researching about the effects that different culture may have on the children development and the personality development. What countries have you worked in? Only in Italy What countries do you have a visa to work in? All European countries What field do you currently work in? Private practice as psychologist What fields have you worked in before? R&D laboratory as technician (studying microstructure of building materials and raw materials for cement industry by Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry and Gas Adsorption) for more than 20 years. Technical direction of cement plants in Italy for more than 5 years. What qualifications do you hold? Bachelor in chemistry. Degree in Psychology Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Both. Formal education is void without the practice. Practice only is dispersive without formal education. Thinking and doing are both part of us, and we cannot live balanced if we rely solely on a part of us. Describe the benefits of working with others Information exchange, that help us to overcome our personal idiosyncracies, our personal schemata. Affective exchange. We werent born alone. We were born in a structure: a family, a social group, a country. We become more autonomous, living. But autonomy doesn't mean disconnession from others. We're not islands, simply. And we need others as much as others need us. Describe the benefits of working alone Very few. I've worked alone for sufficient time to understand and learn that we are social animals. What was your worst working experience? Work as plant director in a cement plant in calabria, in the south of Italy. The presence of criminal organizations was very clear, also in the factory. It has been like try to walk in the fog on a mountain track. We cannot see obstacles, rocks, enemies. They are there, but we can't see its. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? I learned how to pay attention to non-verbal signs, to rely more on what people don't talk about, to care of myself. What unique skills do you have? A strong perceptual ability in identifyng anomalities, wether in written texts or in work situations. I'm curious, and I'm able to pose myself in the shoes of other people. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Work in collaboration with other professionals, helping people to live a better life without telling them wich kind of life they have to live. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? As chemist, the necessity to be constant, the precision, the role of an accurate observation of materials. As psychologist, the novelty representd by every new client. And the joy in seeing broken lifes start to rejoyce. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? A chemist, the fact I worked alone for most of the time.
