Looking for a job in SarajevoWhat type of job are you looking for? I am happy to do any kind of work, I have experience in the service industry, in kitchens, hostels and bar work. I am enthusiastic and industrious, I am looking for anything that can keep me in sarajevo. My primary passion is literature, I am a writer, of poetry, mainly, with a degree in Literature and history from Edinburgh University. What nationality are you? My home city is Edinburgh, Scotland. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? My first language is English. I speak French at an intermediate level, a little Spanish. I am beginning to learn the Bosnian language, my vocabulary is building slowly but my understanding is growing and I am very enthusiastic about improving my knowledge of this language. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I would like to work in Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I have already spent 3 weeks working in a hostel in Mostar. I have fallen deeply in love with this country and the people in it. I have made many friends already, I attended a festival called "New Relationships" in Priboj, I was invited there by some young people I met in Visegrad. I said a few words at the end of the presentations, thanking the hosts for their hospitality and encouraging the prospect of a new relationship between Scotland and the Balkan countries. What countries have you worked in? I have done most of my working experience in Scotland. I have volunteered at an art festival in Schiedam, Holland. I have worked at a hostel in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. What countries do you have a visa to work in? As part of the European Union I am able to work in the countries included in this collective without applying for a visa. What field do you currently work in? Currently I am unemployed but working, in a sense, as a freelance writer and poet. What fields have you worked in before? Mostly in the service industry, waitress, bar staff, hostel guest relations staff, cafe work, volunteer work. I have worked in the finance department of the Sheriff Court in Edinburgh. I have other office experience as an intern for a publishing company in Edinburgh. What qualifications do you hold? A Master of the Arts degree in Literature and History from Edinburgh University. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I think that both are important, I value my own formal education from University but I think that this would be almost useless without experience in the working environment. Describe the benefits of working with others This encourages cooperation and communication between people. Describe the benefits of working alone As an independent person working alone allows room for the devolopment of an individual system of thought. What was your worst working experience? As an intern in a company where it was never clear to me what work I was to do. The task that I assumed I was given was tedious and seemingly pointless. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Patience. What unique skills do you have? I am a creative person, diplomatic and understanding. Why is it important to work in a foreign place? It is fascinating and beneficial to learn about different cultures and languages. Working in foreign place allows an interaction with these things that cannot easily be found from simply visiting a place. Experiencing life in different and foreign communities is important in understanding the basic principles of community and society.
