A job in environmental sciences, especially soil science (soil mapping and experimental soil science) and rangeland management, with field investigations, data collection and analysis, and reprt writing. This is because these are the three areas that i believe have abundant wildlife and environmental conditions settings that will need research in the field i specialise in. Formal education or skills and why? I believe education that combines a bit of both is more useful since it smoothes work from planning to execution stages. Otherwise i would go with skills as it empowers one with the knowledge to undertake projects while formal education just lays the foundation. Describe the benefits of working with others Communication and peer review are a major component of a successful project, i believe working with others provides an early view into how different people/communities will react to the complete product of one's project. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone is faster since consultation may take time, also evaluating comments and inputs from team mates may delay projects. What was your worst working experience? Having a project report rejected without enough and/or understandable reasons. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Peer review and team work helps a lot even though it takes time. Also, the need to understand project requirements before one embarks on one is a crucial part of work. What unique skills do you have? I am computer literate with an ability to recognise problems with computer progams and fix them or recommend remediation measures without the help of a computer technician. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Chief Research Officer (soil sciences) in a major company What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Field work and experimentation (laboratory work). Figuring ourt a new method to work with is a always a challenge and the execution and final completion of the job is a reward. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Report writing is less exciting as one always has to be following a certain set of guidelines from start to the end, without much personal influence. Describe your ideal place of work?
