Joseph Mubanga (196.46.197.30) -

What type of job are you looking for?

I'm looking for a job in the field of water engineering , Civil engineering or renewable energy engineering(Solar, wind, Biomass, Biogas energy)

What nationality are you?

Zambian

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

English. I understand a bit of sutu because I did Silozi in school. Sutu and silozi are almost similar or a few differences in pronunciations

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Any where in your country. In Zambia I'm employed as a water and energy engineer and my work takes me anywhere rural and urban

What countries have you worked in?

only Zambia and a bit of Tanzania as a student there

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

My passport allows me to work anywhere in the world

What field do you currently work in?

Water and energy engineering

What fields have you worked in before?

Civil engineering construction

What qualifications do you hold?

Bachelor of Engineering degree (Civil engineering)

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Skills because one tends to have more practical touch to the job

Describe the benefits of working with others

Working as a team makes one develop leadership skills easily and the work generally tends to move because efforts are group efforts

Describe the benefits of working alone

its makes one more responsible and there is a tendency to take ownership of the work and the results thereafter

What was your worst working experience?

My worst working experience was when I drilled 19 dry boreholes out of 30. The failure was as a result of the poor ground water formation in that part of Southern province Zambia. It was so nasty I nearly resigned on moral grounds

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Even if you are working in a group, always remember to apply yourself fully to the work. Do not take that the person next to me will do it. Do it yourself instead.

What unique skills do you have?

Im quiet artistic and I write lot of articles. I know the computer well and I appreciate the use of GIS (Geographical information systems)and AUTOCAD which not many people in Zambia have mastered

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

I would like to be a chief executive of a water or power utility company

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

My field involves working with rural communities. It becomes very interesting to combine engineering and social work. The other one is when you carryout geophysical investigations, plot your graphs, drill the boreholes and finally find water. Its also interesting when I sit on the computer and start to design an engineering system, supervise construction and finally see it work.

Wjat are the least interesting aspects of your field?

When I fail to achieve my engineering results after designing (Very rare)

Who is your mentor

ALBERT EINSTIEN. This is the man who has made the world what it is today. I simply love his theory of relativity.

How can potential employers contact you?

Joseph Mubanga C/o Mrs Mutinta Nanja Mubanga Ministry of Education P.O. Box 670144 Mazabuka, Zambia e-Mail: royal_mucho@yahoo.co.uk
