Working with others helps in idea sharing and learning from each other. It also helps in improving the quality of work produced by a team and boots team building.

When working alone, one can work at own speed and there are no delays from group members.
What was your worst working experience?
Taking things for granted- When I was a Divisional Financial I had a bookkeeper who was reporting to an Accountant and the Accountant used to be told that bank reconciliations were being done but he never reviewed them and used to tell me all was in order. At year end audit it transpired that the reconciliations were never done.
What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?
The need to physically check work done by subordinates and attention to detail. Having checking procedures in place and to ensure that batches are checked and corrected before posting. The need to ensure that all required work is done and checked well before the deadline to avoid fire fighting and minimise mistakes.
Management of risk in order to add shareholder value.
What unique skills do you have?
Very good at computerised accounts, analysis of financial information, inventory management and training subordinates plus team building.
