What type of job are you looking for?

I am looking for an IT or Telecommunications job, preferably with a managerial role. I am looking to work for a reputable company or organization whose growth, goals and vision I can contribute to.I am looking for a new challenge and and experience in a multi cultural working environment.

What nationality are you?

I am a Ugandan.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

I speak English and completed an IELTS test in June 2009.Passed with an average grade of 8.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am looking to work in a South African country particularily Botswana. This is because Botswana needs IT recruits and am sure i possess the skills, experience and technical knowledge which can be of great value to my employers in achieving a common goal. On the other hand I can work in any location in the world provided the work conditions are favourable, this could be Australia,Newzealand,UK,USA or even UAE

What countries have you worked in?

I have worked in Uganda. After completing my Bachelors degree in Electrical engineering, I worked for Huawei Technologies Limited a Telecommunications vendor as a CDMA termianl engineer for 1 year, then as an Account Manager for the same company for one year and as a Fixed and Data solutions Specialist(marketing) for MTN Uganda. In Huawei I was taken for company training twice to China. I have just completed my Masters degree in Computer science in India. In India I worked in a call center for about 3 months.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I consider formal education more valuable, because depending on the institution you go to and the trainjng you get,one emerges with a thorough knowledge and idea about the basics.Formal eduaction is the foundation. If one can perfoem well at their formal education then it shouldnot be difficult to train them during on job training or probation. They can grasp various skills and techniques in the job very quickly. On the other hand skills and experience are very vital when one is looking for a job or when one is being considered for a job.The world has progressed by Meals and Boons and employers are looking for talented and minds or individuals who possess mult skills and can work in a team to face the challenges of the World's fast growing economy. Employers might be willing to train individuals intial on the job but for higher positions in a company like managerial/Executive positions, experience plays a big role. All in all one can one gather experience or skill if they are given the chance to gain the experience,if they are employed.

Describe the benefits of working with others

No man is an Island. Man cannot survive on his own. The world is a global village and so every thing we do in one way or another affects the person, neighbour or environment around us. Working with others builds team manship- people who work in a team get a sense of belonging and working towards achieving a common goal or purpose. One can easily get a task done faster if they work as a team or with others One also learns other skills, cultures, languages, ideas and idealogies while working with others It is also easier to get ideas to management in group, than when one is an individual All in all to achieve a common goal while working with others, they should be some form or organization or hierachy.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Working alone is some times beneficial i.e. - If a student is assigned a project, they might master it thoroughly if they work individually -When the task is complete on gains more self confidence if they worked alone and can easily face or accomplish similar tasks more efficiently, and in less time because they have gained some back ground, knowlegde, skills and the confidence that they perform/ do that related task

What was your worst working experience?

I have not really had a WORST working experience, I would call these challeneges. Once I was sent out in the field to do some Radio planning for around the CDMA sites. I had very little experience then in that task.My manager calls me and tells me that the supervisor is not going to make it,so I had to stand in and ensure that the number of sites were intalled properly, tested and working fine.First thing I did was to make a phone call to another experienced engineer to walk my through the hands on process of getting the site up,testing it and ensuring it was working fine.It was dificult intially but with the more sites I tested,it came naturally and I had learnt so much about the anteennas, sites, the boards, signals in the short time I was in the field.I donot regret it today. It built my self confidence and I now no that when faced with a challenge spend time thinking of a solution and not worrying over the problem.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

I have learnt that working hard and most of all working smart surely leads to success. Team work and a smile to your work mates always goes a long way in building benefitial work relationships, things get done much faster too.

What unique skills do you have?

The unquie skills i posses are;

I am dedicated, hard working, ready to learn new things, can work in a team. Love to work in a multi cultural environment. I possess a mix of both technical and marketing skills, after my bachelors degree I was in the technical field(CDMA Terminal Engineer) for a year, it involved customer service so there was the mix of marketing. The next year I was an Account Manager with some thorough product knowledge on various telecom equipment,Account Mangement though is greatly a marketing role. Then in the third year I was in Prodcut development in MTN Uganda which a was under the marketing department, but because of my skills in both fields I was the bridge between the Marketing department and the technical department in Fixed and Data Solutions. As a part time course during my Masters I acquired knowlegde on the workings of the UN particularily the WOrld Bank,IMF, UNDP and the UN as a whole. I also love to travel and work in new environmemts, meet people of different cultures and races. I beleive with these unquie skills if given a chance, can work with my employers to achieve a common goal one being growth of the company.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job is to hold an Executive position in a reputable international company and with the aim of being one of its major share holders.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

They are: First of all one thing I like about the IT/Telecom Industry is the pace at which technolopgy changes, there is always some thing new and interesting to learn,so one doesnot get bored. Secondly From an investors point of view, people will always want to communicate, talk, use the internet, make their lives simpler..say ATMS to with draw money, remote open and start vechiles, world security; name it, the populations will always grow and so the demand for IT and Telcom services will always increase. This means that this industry is always grwoing meaning profits for investors and jobs for employees. Thridly many times in the pay or salary packages are quite high and good.Depending on ones role or position one gets to travel, meet and experience new cultures and langauges. Though IT/Telecom is a fast paced cahnging field, wit its challenges comes an interesting and not boring experience. As mentioned above their are several opportunities for investment from software development, hardware development, marketing, service sector, manufacturing all these are realted one way or another to IT and Telecom, THE SKY IS NOT the limit

Wjat are the least interesting aspects of your field?

The least interesting aspects of this field are:

On the other hand, keeping up with new technologies in IT/Telecom say voice,Data, Video and the Internet can be a challenge both for the Institutions teaching these technologies, manufacturers of the equipment and technologies, employers, employees, government regulators and MOST of all the end user of a product or a service, alot of investment ends up going into R and D and then Customer Service.

Please replace this with a question of your own
