| logistics/camp manager required Leopard Ecology and Conservation are looking for a reliable, efficient person to run and maintain their tented camp and vehicles, on the boundary of Khutse Game Reserve, Kweneng District, Botswana. The initial contract will be full time, for 1 year, with the possibility for renewal. The job will be challenging and varied including; • Maintaining the camp infrastructure (tents, solar electrical system, ablutions, water, etc.). • Supervising camp staff (cleaners, handy man, general hands, etc.). • Be responsible for field staff salaries, contracts, annual/sick leave, etc. • Maintenance of vehicles (general maintenance, scheduling regular services and emergency repairs). • Organise camp and research supplies (mostly from Gaborone). • Supervise cooking of meals. • Maintain equipment. The person must be willing to live in the camp, in a reasonably remote location, with only occasional visits to Gaborone. The hours are often irregular, including weekends and overtime which may be requested when necessary. In addition to their regular duties the person may be required to help with research and community work when needed. The successful applicant will have at least 2 years management experience, preferably in a similar camp or project setting, be well organised with proven problem solving skills, excellent written and spoken English, computer literacy and full drivers license. Mechanical and electrical knowledge would be a distinct advantage, as would experience in the field of conservation, experience of living in a remote location, and fluency in Setswana.
