Hotel/Resort Job for English speaking person

What type of job are you looking for?

To secure a challenging position in a hotel or resort where my education, skills and experience may be fully utilized. I specialize in events planning and work very well with hotel guests/clients.

What nationality are you?

American. (Ethnicity: 1/2 Filipino, 1/2 Thai).

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

English (fluent) Spanish (beginning) Tagalog (beginning)

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Florianopolis. I believe it is an up and coming area for the hospitality industry. It is very beautiful and is considered on of the ten most dynamic cities of the world!

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

USA for now...

What field do you currently work in?

Event Management in Hotel.

What fields have you worked in before?

Administrative, Restaurant, Sales, Events.

What qualifications do you hold?

Work experience with Fortune 500 companies in hospitality and environmental industries; Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Prism (AS400), e-mail, websites; Experience in customer service and relations; Highly reliable, very organized, performs assigned tasks efficiently; Bachelor’s Degree in Business with an emphasis in Hotel/Resort Management.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I would say both, but if I had to choose one I would choose skills. I believe that anyone can go through the courses and pass, but to actually be experiencing first hand for yourself really builds your skills, knowledge and experience.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Working in a team environment is great for the workers as well as the customer! You get to build ideas off of each other, work together to resolve problems and create solutions, help each other out in difficult times.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Taking ownership. Learning to take on a role and follow up with things on your own.

What was your worst working experience?

Working as an admin assistant, doing nothing but filing and paperwork all day and not having any interaction with others.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

To take pride and ownership in your work. Honesty and hard work can get you very far in any business.

What unique skills do you have?

Ability to work well with anyone to get things done. Ability to multi-task.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

Being a Global Account Manager - Site Selection and Event Planning.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Being a liaison between the customer and the different departments of our hotel.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

Paperwork.
