Searching for employment in BVI

British

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

English, pretty well I would say

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am looking for work in the British Virgin Islands. I have long been an admirer of the region and the people who live there. I would love to have a poitive contribution to society on the islands and believe my skills can be a benefit to the region and economy.

Spain France

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

Only EU countries

I work in the chemotherapy production lab for a NHS hospital in England, manufacturing the chemotherapy treatments for cancer patients

What fields have you worked in before?

I have worked in many fields. -Customr Service -Sales -Quality Assurance -Stock Take

What qualifications do you hold?

10 English GCSE's

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I value both for different reasons. I believe education plays a very important role in moulding and shaping an indiviual. The whole education system gives someone valuable life lessons which can be called upon in a working environment, and it offers much more than just grades and diplomas that you receive on the other side. Skills are just as important for a person as they open doors, sometimes more than a formal education can. I have specialised skills in lab work and find that many more options are open to me now so both are of great importanc to me

Describe the benefits of working with others

Learning social structures and interaction with people is a prominent part in almost all employment. The benefits being that everybody can come together for the same cause and help make things happen in a work place. When you ahve good relations with your colleagues everything is much easier not only for yourself but also the people you work with and so the comapny as a whole can become more effiecient and abl to concentrate on objectives rather than an individuals needs.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Working alone has many benefits. I think the main one being that I only have myself to rely on. If I need something done by a deadline and have been asked to work alone then it will be done. When there is no-one else invloved in a task it becomes more personal and its possible to achieve a higher standered of work then say, working in a group or team. When focused on an individual effort the rewards fel much greater once the project is complete

What was your worst working experience?

probably when I first started working I had a part tim job working the Freezer section at a large UK supermarket, the customer service and people side of the work was fantastic. However the minus 27 degre freezers and constatly handling ice was not too good for the moral or health. I still held the job down for a number of years though and ended up managing the department so good things can come from it.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Not to let things get ontop of you, or have a backlog of work to catch up on. Feeling happy in a job is the best feeling you can have. Waking up and looking forward to work is a great feeling,if you are muted with worry or stress about something that is unfinished, it can have a detremental effect on th rest of your life.

What unique skills do you have?

I have unique skills within a pharmacy lab, whether its manufacturing Chemotherapy or maintaining and testing the isolators, im willing to bet there are not too many people in each country who have the skills to carry out the job I am currently doing. Great people relations especialy with collagues and members of the public.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

A dream job would be one that I touched on ealier. A job that you are happy to go to. It could b any job and doesnt hav to fall under a certain description. It could be the CEO of a major record lable or a bin man. As long as the job makes me happy it would be my dream job.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Learning about all the drugs we deal with, how they affect people and what the progress of the patients is. We have very inetersting work at the moment and seeing someone recover from a deadly disease really is rewarding.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

Id say the reptetive nature of the work. Sure I enjoy it, but it can be a little tedious at times. Remembering why we do it is always a good way to get over this though.
