cultural advisorWhat type of job are you looking for? I am looking for giving lectures, advising persons who are going to Afghanistan about afghanistan culture, histoy and whatever. What nationality are you? I am an Afghan American. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I speak Dari and English fluently and I speak and understand Pashtu. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I want to work in U.S. Califirnia prefered. What countries have you worked in? I have worked in Afghanistan and still am for another two months. I am a senior cultural advisor. What countries do you have a visa to work in? I have not worked in any other country besides U>=.S. and Afghanistan What field do you currently work in? I am retired right now What fields have you worked in before? I was an Air Force pilot. I was a flight instructor. I owned and managed a large restaurant with 100 employees.I still own it. What qualifications do you hold? I am a very effective communicator. I have a lot of schooling with the Air force. I have entered the PHD program in the field of international relations, finished all the course work and qualified exams but not defend my thesis, due to business reasons Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Both are important, but depends on the situation, some times a street smart person can accomplish more than a college professor. Describe the benefits of working with others THe challenge to transfer knowledge to each other, and making friends Describe the benefits of working alone At times working alone has the advantage of making decisions on your own, and also also have more time to accomplish the task. What was your worst working experience? When I first decided to stay bin US, I worked in a parking lot, after flying jets.temporarily, of course. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Always respect people you deal with, and make sure to be fair and make them understand that you are not threatening. What unique skills do you have? comunicating with people. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? I have had many jobs; teaching, advising, owning a restaurant, being member of a board, and being a cultural advisor in Afghanistan. I liked them all. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? which field are you talking about? In my present feils as a cultural advisor, I have gone to many villages and talked to village elders and convinced them of our troops good intentions; that has been satisfying. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? being away from home. why are you seeking an advisory job? I am very good at it.
