H-2B Visa job programsWhat type of job are you looking for? I'm looking for an H-2B job in sales (as a cashier or at a callcenter etc.), or a waitressing job. I would also be able to work as a receptionist. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I speak Dutch fluently at an academic level (I'm a native speaker). English at a C1 level (about the same level as the average native speaker with a highschool diploma). German at a B2 level (I can understand and read it better than I can speak it, but I can make myself clear in a professional and polite way). French at an A1 level. I can't speak or understand it well. I am only able to understand simple questions (for instance: questions regarding place, time, and directions.) I had French for only 3 years while in junior high. What State are you looking to work in and why? I Would like to get a job in California. I am from the Netherlands, and I've never been to the US, so I would like to go there any way possible, while able to work. With the information at hand here, it seems to me that California would be the perfect place for me to go to for a short period of time (6 to 8 months), between my highschool graduation and my enrollment into a university here in Amsterdam. I will have graduated highschool by the end of this spring, at the highest level available in the Netherlands (VWO, preparing-scientific-education). What field do you currently work in? Since I am in my senior year of highschool, I am currently unemployed. After my graduation, I will start working either in sales or as a waitress, to save up for my ticket to the states. What fields have you worked in before? I have worked in sales and as a babysitter. I have also worked as a tutor. What qualifications do you hold? When I leave for the states, I will have graduated highschool at the VWO level. I am highly intelligent (My IQ is 136) and I have worked in a team and on my own before. I speak three languages at a high level, from which two fluently. I haven't had much work experience, but I am eager to learn. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? The most important thing is combining those two. In my country, the lower the level of education, the more skills-oriented education you get. If you only get formal education, how are you supposed to use your knowledge in the right way? On the other hand, if you're only able to do certain things, and are not able to think about them in different ways and from different angles, how are you supposed to grow as a person or on a vocational level? Describe the benefits of working with others When you are working with others, you always have something to fall back on. If you don't know how to do something, there will always be someone there to help you, or share the load of work you have. You will also be able to look at problems from different perspectives, as every person will give his own opinion about it. Describe the benefits of working alone When working alone, you can get things done quicker your way, because you don't have to think about what the others might want. You have complete artistic and creative freedom in doing your job. What was your worst working experience? When I worked as a cashier, there was a customer whose son was mentally disabled. He would eat all the candy at the counter, and We would have to stop him. One time even security had to come and take him out of the shop. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Don't be afraid to ask questions. Asking question about things you don't understand shows that you are eager to learn and curious about the job and it's environment. What unique skills do you have? I don't really have any unique skills, but I am pretty good at math and other exact sciences. I am also very kind and understanding. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Working as a researcher/professor at a university after getting my masters degree and my PhD. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The constant growth of the beta/exact sciences world. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? The fact that there are a lot of researches done that take years. Why are you looking for a job in the US? Because I want to go out and travel before I enroll at a university. If I want to travel while I'm still young, this is the time. I'm available for jobs starting December 2011 or Januari 2012. I will be staying in the states untill at least July 2012, depending on the duration of the job I will get.
