I started my career in the tourism and leisure industry working for NEON, a popular restaurant and bar at Kolonaki, in the centre of Athens. 2001-2005. In 2001 I joined Anek Cruise Lines, one of the major Greek ferry lines of the time. I worked as a steward and gained experience working as a bartender on large ferries connecting the port of Piraeus with the popular tourist islands of Rhodes and Crete. 2006-2007. In the summer of 2006 I finished working for the shipping company and immediately I was employed by Yam, a trendy cocktail bar on the trendy Cycladic island of Antiparos, where I was trained to become a professional cocktail bartender. It was a beautiful two years on the picturesque island that shaped my future. Restaurants During the winter period I would return to Athens and find employment as a waiter in restaurants in the trendy areas of Kolonaki and Thision. 5 star Hotels 2008. I moved to Myconos to work for St John’s, an exclusive resort on the hugely popular island. My experience working in a 5 star Hotel environment opened up a whole new world to me, one I was really fond of. I worked there both as a bartender and as a waiter. 2009-2010. I joined Royal Myconian Hotel, part of the Leading Hotels of the World chain where I worked for two years. That was a fantastic work opportunity that helped me develop my skills in drink mixing while it further trained me in the area of customer relations and the philosophy of making them feel welcomed, relaxed, and basically happy. 2011. I spent the last summer working on the beloved and upcoming island of Antiparos. This time I worked for Boogaloo, the trendiest and busiest bar on the island, famous for its unbelievable cocktails. It was another fantastic experience. Apart from working in a place full of energy, here I was able to take my cocktail mixing to the next level. We were preparing the most unique list of cocktail drinks using all sorts of known and unknown ingredients always trying to mix them to perfection. It was a wonderful experience. Travelling Three years ago I decided to take a break from work and visit Thailand. I am not so sure exactly what happened by it seems that I was infected with the mysterious Asian bug. Since then I have embarked on my grand tour of Asia, which has been taking place during the winter and so far has taken me to places I never had dreamed I would ever visit let alone knew they existed. Even if I wanted I would not be able to describe exactly where I have been in these lines, bit it would be unfair not to mention that I have travelled excessively all over Thailand, Cambodia, toured South China having had Hong Kong as my starting point, crossed Vietnam from north to south, visited Malaysia, the Arab Emirates, Turkey, Jordan, and recently I spent six months in India and Nepal. Seeing the world, meeting and mixing with different cultures, visiting temples and religious or cultural centres, feeling the antithesis between the modern mega city and the rugged terrain of the desert or the inhospitable jungle, the foods, the scents, the music, the art; these are experiences that I deem can only but help me in my chosen professional career especially as some of these countries are major tourist destinations.
