Describe the benefits of working with others Having a diverse work environment broadens your outlook on life. This leads to a non-judgmental approach to patient care. We learn from the behavior and attitudes of others, good and bad. Describe the benefits of working alone You become self-reliant, self-assured and self-motivated or you do not advance. What was your worst working experience? During the mid 1990's an effort was made to cross train all healthcare workers to do multiple jobs. Housekeepers were being taught to draw blood. Patient Care Associates were cleaning rooms. The concept is beneficial in a small work environment in which everyone should know everyone's role, but the conflict that resulted during this time period was overwhelming. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Using the Serenity Prayer when I approach any problem. If I can effect beneficial change, then I do it, if it cannot be changed, then I must accept the situation. Accepting patient/families decisions related to end of life is an example of this. At that point, we help the patient and family through the stages necessary for resolution. What unique skills do you have? I have been a Nurse Manager for 15 years.
