I am from the United States and live in Medellin. If you are thinking about working or Teaching in Colombia, PLEASE investigate obtaining a Work Visa before entering Colombia. You can't just decide to work here because you speak English. Any reputable employer or school will insist you have a work visa (IT'S THE LAW). This can take months to obtain, and you need a business in Colombia to assist you in obtaining the work visa. It's not as easy as walking in and saying here I am... I learned the hard way.
