Any cause which reduces human suffering With over twenty years experience working with multinational technology firms, my experience covers project management, system and process management, sales and marketing, strategic planning, business development, communications, Information Technology and photography. What nationality are you? I am a dual citizen of The USA and Colombia. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I am a native English speaker and advanced Spanish speaker. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I am living in Colombia and wish to stay here as it is my birthplace. I have the right to work in Colombia and the USA What field do you currently work in? Crime Prevention and Social Inclusion is the current area I am empoloyed. The foundation I manage is located in Los Martires, considered by the government and many social organizations as one of the most complex social situations and most dangerous area in Bogota. We help children and young people between the ages of 5 a 19 fond ways to leave the ghetto and become productive citizens. The current populations is in excess of 100 kids. We also support 124 Embera Families which were forcefully removed form their land (Choco and Quindio( due to the armed conflict. Finally, we help educate 136 young mothers and provide them nutritional supplements for the children ages 5 months to 5 years. What fields have you worked in before? I have worked at teaching computers and English to people, both young and old. Currently, I manage an NGO with 7 professionals and between 4 and 12 interns (psychology, social work, occupational therapy). Additional I have done global IT management and business development. Project management, business process modelling, Sales and Marketing management and photography What qualifications do you hold? I studied Business Administration and graduate in 1988 from California State Long Beach. Additionally, I have a series of training courses from negotiations, project management, business modelling, accounting system implementations, IT shop management, Crisis management courses and varied other business related training courses (Photoshop, Macromedia development, 3D modelling, creative writing). Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Ultimately a combination of the education supported by experience which develops real-word skills to be applied to real-word challenges and issues. Describe the benefits of working with others The benefits of working with others include the opportunity to learn from the team members as well as supporting to their career aspirations. In a well formed team environment, synergy develops and from there, the opportunity to make huge impacts on the projects are afforded. The better we understand and work with other people, the better we can help people. Describe the benefits of working alone The ability to not have to gain consensus, thus making the process shorter and potentially more efficient. What was your worst working experience? Five years working with the Oracle Corporation filled my pockets with treasure but I sold my soul to get the money. Compromising my principles and getting the deal no matter what constitute a Machiavellian environment within the commercial world in which I have no interest in supporting or participating... What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Patience, loyalty, determination and dealing in the truth, all combined will provide results in any environment. Never give up. What unique skills do you have? Creative and resourceful are two of my strongest skills. My keen sense of determination and perseverance work together to produce results. Being able to work in a high risk environment while maintaining a clear and objective view of the situation. Being committed to resolution through peaceful means, and working to respect all people, goes to provide a confidence level. Being able to quickly assimilate cultural traits and behavior and implementing them in my work and personal life. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Working with a team helping to save peoples lives and to offer them a way to have a dignified and sustainable life. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Being able to see peoples life transformed because of something I did or was involved in doing is the most interesting part of my field. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Dealing with Government institutions created to help support people is the least interesting part of my field. This is because the cast majority of these are corrupt, infective and simply large autocratic bureaucracies. What is most important? Being of service to my fellow humans and helping fix environmental issues is the most important things for me. Behaving and helping people behave in a human manner, incorporating positive traits to transform society into a peaceful, respectful and "green" structure is all possible if all of us focus on the power of peace and love.
