Employment in Medellin

What type of job are you looking for?

I would like a job in production-film, tv, theatre and special events-I

love them all! I specialize in makeup, costuming, and set design.

What nationality are you?

I am a proud Latina:)

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

Though my Spanish could use some polishing, I am fluent in both English

and Spanish.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am looking to work in Medellin, Colombia. Antioquia to be exact. I

absolutely love it there! My family originated in Medellin and I've

always felt that it is where I truly belong. I would also like to

further my knowledge in the arts by being a part of its unique

culture.

What countries have you worked in?

So far, I have only worked in the U.S.A..

What field do you currently work in?

Currently, I work in Animal Care. I love dogs, and they are a big part of who I am.

What fields have you worked in before?

I've worked mostly in Retail.

What qualifications do you hold?

I hold a Bachelors Degree in Film, Theater, and Communication Arts. I

was also licensed in Esthetics in the State of Florida in 2005.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Formal education and skills are both equally valuable for a person's

life. Skills are important to have because they directly reflect the

knowledge and potential one may have in a particular craft, but a

formal education will help further that knowledge and additionally

present new opportunitites for which those skills to be applied.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Working with others is beneficial in many ways. Primarily, you are able

to learn and share new approaches for completing similar tasks. You

also learn to become more open towards peoples needs and personalities.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Benefits of working alone include having a greater sense of one's self

and capabilities. The recognition for a certain assignment does not

have to be shared and you are also able to work at your own pace. On

the other hand, if a person is careless with his or her work, working

alone could be a major disadvantage.

What was your worst working experience?

I worked endlessly as a waitress/bartender for a short period of time at

an Armenian restaurant for almost little to no pay.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

You have to be willing to sacrifice comfort and be willing to

take risks, such as relocating.

What unique skills do you have?

My unique skills include communication and creativity. I've always

taken on the role of leader in a given group when necessary. I enjoy

motivating others to work together and build strong relationships with

one another. I excel in creating visually pleasing and functional

projects. I also work hard to achieve my goals.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job is somewhere that I could apply all of my artistic

abilities and be recognized for them by the public. I would love to

work for a production or makeup company that would allow me to travel

and communicate ideas with others in the entertainment industry.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Being able to work closely with talent and helping them to feel

confident in front of the camera is one of the most interesting

aspects of my field. It is also interesting and rewarding to be able

to work with people from various walks of life who share the same

goal.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

I often have to work for little or no pay whenever I do jobs in my

field. It is how many, if not most, true artists start off in their

careers.

Describe what inspired you to pursue your field?

I've always known I was destined for greatness. God gave me the gift

of talent through art and determination. As a child, I knew I wanted

to be an artist and with formal education, I discovered my place in

the worlds of beauty and entertainment.

How can potential employers contact you?

Via email is the best way to contact me at this time.
