Im looking towards Colombia or Argentina although any South American country would appeal. Ive spent most of my time in the Middle East and would like to take my experiances to another continent. What countries have you worked in? As a private security and surveillance operator Ive worked in the UK, Ireland, Afghanistan and currently Iraq. What countries do you have a visa to work in? Iraq. What field do you currently work in? Private security/liason. What fields have you worked in before? The British military for 12 years with an excellent record, private security for the British Foreign Office and the American military. Private surveillance for a multitude of British Official Agencies What qualifications do you hold? SIA license, remote medic and advanced airway management, weapons and range instructor, maritime boarding and search,surveillance operator. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? In the sector of work in which Im employed and interested in I would say skills. This is because you can learn all the theory you want but until youve been "on the job" for real it counts for nothing. You learn from your mistakes as you go not from sitting exams. Describe the benefits of working with others This builds team spirit which I believe is very important. It gives the individual a feeling of responsability to those around him and he should find himself wanting to be an asset within his unit. Describe the benefits of working alone You dont have to compromise on your own personal standards. You set the bench mark and you know what is right and wrong. What was your worst working experience? My first job working for a private company in Afghanistan. It was an eye opener but I took alot away from it and became a much stronger operator. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Never forget where you are. What unique skills do you have? The ability to get on with and comunmicate with all levels. Im a very practical problem solver and a realist. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Working for someone who valued your services and could listen to your advice. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Everyday brings something new, you cant afford to sit back and become complacent. You may never get a second chance ever again. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Being in the same place for a long time. This can happen and is one of the downsides. Why should I employ you over someone else? Because Ive maintained my own very high standards and integrity. I know when to be 100% serious and when to lighten up without ever crossing the line. Ive maintained my appearance and physical condition. Im always learning and absorbing, I do not have the opinion that "I know it all".
