Seeking Construction Management PositionWhat type of job are you looking for? Seeking full time employment with an honest construction firm. At this time I am not trying to target a specific job title, but rather seeking any position within a quality company where I can learn and further develop my skills in the field of construction management. What nationality are you? American; World Citizen What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English - Fluent What country or area are you looking to work in and why? Costa Rica, if possible close to San Jose. I would like to spend a little time in Costa Rica to see if I might be interested in a future there. What countries have you worked in? USA, Israel, India, USVI (Vigin Islands) What field do you currently work in? I graduated with my BS in Construction Management from East Carolina University in May 2010 and have taken a year off to serve the Bahá’í Faith. During this time I have been helping facilitate a community building process through activities designed to assist communities develop their own capacities to take charge of their spiritual, social and intellectual development. What fields have you worked in before? All types of construction and maintenance, however most of this has been in carpentry, Community Development What qualifications do you hold? I have successfully completed a 30-hour Occupational Safety and Health Training Course through OSHA (The US Department of Labor). Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I feel strongly that there is a necessity for a balance in both, because its important for one to grow in his/her strengths in even proportion otherwise one can get themselves in trouble if they tackle something solely on their extreme expertise in either education or skill. Describe the benefits of working with others Through working with others you develop good communication skills, which is one of the most valuable tools for success in any endeavor. Describe the benefits of working alone Some people work best when they are alone and thus one benefit for those individuals is an opportunity for maximum productivity. What was your worst working experience? Working for an employer who did not respect himself and thus it was evident not only in the way he treated me, but everyone else he came in contact with. This was difficult, I tried to help, but eventually decided I needed to move on, because ultimately the environment was not conducive to my growth. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Communication is the key, AND always look to make progress, DO NOT focus on this person or that person's faults, but rather focus on what will be helpful to moving forward to completing the task at hand, timely, safely, and successfully. What unique skills do you have? I feel that I have somewhat of a unique perspective on the world and how the individual should interact with it. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? To be honest, I am not sure. I imagine it would be working with a team of individuals who are honest, positive and looking to strive for excellence in whatever the project goal is. I have not yet worked in the field of Construction Management, and thus wish to try different "positions" in order to find what best fits me. I do enjoy the hands on portion, thus might prefer working in the field, rather than in the office, however its hard to tell until you try both. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Learning about the construction process. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Unnecessary steps to accomplish the goal.
