G. Neufeld (75.158.164.2) -

I am a registered nurse, licensed and registered in Canada and the US. I have worked several areas but prefer either postpartum nursing or working in an Alzheimer's unit or with mental health patients.

What nationality are you?

I am Canadian!

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

I am fluent in English only, with exceptional vocabulary and spelling skills. And I'm extremely open to learning a new language. :)

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am looking to work in Costa Rica. My family has grown up and I have been wanting to move for a couple of years now. I have heard that Costa Rica has the most beautiful people and country. I would like to use my nursing skills to help anyone I can.

What countries have you worked in?

I have and am currently working in Canada.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

I have visas to work in Canada and the United States.

What field do you currently work in?

I am currently a post partum, maternity/child care.

What fields have you worked in before?

Other fields I have worked in are stroke rehab, Alzheimer's unit, small amount of time in the ER and mental health area.

What qualifications do you hold?

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I have spent 4 years being formally educated, which is a very good foundation but I work with nurses who have spent less time being formally educated and more time as a nurse and I am always learning the ways more clearly from their experience.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Teamwork is essential in problem solving. A camaraderie is formed that can make a stressful situation bearable. Working with others increases the knowledge between the nurses.

Describe the benefits of working alone

At times, one can accomplish more of their set task when working alone.

What was your worst working experience?

My worst working experience was having two code blues within four hours of each other, both being called on children.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

I have learned I can learn a lot from the experience of my co-workers.

What unique skills do you have?

I am very empathetic. I care deeply about my patients, not only their physical illness or hardship, but about what has brought them to the state they are in.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job would be to work with Alzheimer's patients. I would like to see them living in a world specifically set up just for them,a place that they can do the things they love to do and be able to be helped by people like myself without the overuse of drugs that I see so much of. To see them with as much freedom as possible while still being safe is what I want to see.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

At present, I work with new moms and newborn babies. The fact that these moms go through a painful process yet the moment their child is delivered, the love is so abundant and obvious is miraculous.

Wjat are the least interesting aspects of your field?

The lease interesting aspect of my field is the stocking of supplies, although I do understand the importance.

How has being a nurse changed your life?

Becoming a nurse has changed my life by increasing my self-confidence and self-esteem. It also lets me put my caring nature to use. I have become a stronger person who can make important decisions when the need arises. I love my work and each day I look forward to seeing what it will bring.

How can potential employers contact you?

Potential employees can contact me by email: grn530@hotmail.com As I am a shift worker, telephone is a much more difficult way to reach me. I thank you for time.
