ESL-ENGLISG job wantedWhat type of job are you looking for? I teach English as a second language. I thought it would be beneficial given the changing attitude between the United States and Cuba to go to Cuba and teach English. What nationality are you? I'm a mix, mostly German. A little American Indian and the rest miscellaneous. I think I would be best described as Californian. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I speak English very well. I'm familiar with the few words from many languages given the diversity of students that I have taught. I have taught English as a second language to students of more than 15 countries. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I want to go to a country where they need me. I thought that perhaps North Korea or Cuba would most benefit from having their citizens possess a stronger mastery of the English language. However, I am open to international travel in general. What countries have you worked in? I have traveled to Mexico, Egypt, and Great Britain. I have not worked in any other country. What countries do you have a visa to work in? I will need to obtain the proper visas. What field do you currently work in? I am an educator. In recent years I've taught psychology, math, citizenship and primarily English as a second language. What fields have you worked in before? I worked in administration in the health field, specifically in the field of physical rehabilitation and a multidisciplinary rehab facility which included counseling. What qualifications do you hold? I have a Masters in education. I am a licensed physical therapy assistant. I hold a pupil personnel services credential, a multiple subjects credential, and a lifetime credential in psychology. These credentials and licenses are all in the state of California. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? The combination of life experience, life experience, and teaching experience make me an excellent adult teacher. Describe the benefits of working with others The wonderful aspect of working with adults, is that I am able to combine all of the strengths listed above. I have the longest student waiting lists for my classes in the school district that I work for Describe the benefits of working alone Of working alone? I'm always surrounded by students. I'm never alone in this field. What was your worst working experience? I don't like incompetent bosses. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it brings down the whole program that you're working in. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Always put students first. What unique skills do you have? I am 56 years old. I have been busy. Work since age 11, and I worked myself through college I have extensive experience both inside and outside of education. I am able to offer to adult education a more comprehensive program given my life experience. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? My dream job would be doing exactly what I do now, being of service to others, working with adults or young students who are very motivated and have health benefits. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Meeting people from different countries. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Filling out the attendance sheets.
