What qualifications do you hold? 10 GCSEs 4 A Levels A degree in English and Journalism BA (Hons) Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I think both hold their own value, however through experience, I have found that gaining the skills within the field you wish to work in comes in more handy when applying for jobs. Working in the field actually doing the work teaches the skill in a more effective way and so can be more valuable. Describe the benefits of working with others I think that working in a team is beneficial as it can make work more interesting and fun whereas working alone would be less so. I also think that team work enhances your people skills and can help in resolving any problems that may come up in work situations. Building personal relationships with colleagues is a positive thing as you can make friends as well as professional contacts to further your career prospects. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone can be beneficial as there are less distractions from the work in hand, you also learn to rely on yourself and your own initiative to resolve any work-related problems. What was your worst working experience? My worst working experience would have been working in sales as the product we were selling wasn't an honest one and so I did not enjoy the working environment or the task in hand. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? I have learnt that maintaining working relationships is very important and that working as a team is paramount. I have also learnt that making contacts tends to be more useful than knowledge (it's not what you know, it's who you know). What unique skills do you have? I am very efficient in my work, I can work quickly and accurately whilst being sociable and friendly. I can also diffuse any difficult situations in working environments in a calm, confident manner whilst ensuring customer happiness. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? My dream job would be working within the media as a fashion journalist, but I also enjoy working in hospitality as you get to meet lots of people and gain valuable life experience. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? I think my current field is interesting as I have learnt the procedures of maintenance jobs and the construction industry. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? I think the repetitive administrative tasks of my field are the least interesting aspects, as it can make work quite dull and tiring but my work varies from day to day which makes it more positive. Where would you most like to travel and why? My next ideal destination is Cyprus as I have never travelled there before. I also know it is a beautiful and awe-inspiring country. However every time I travel I like to go to a differet place, and ideally I would travel the world if I could fund my trip, travelling the world is an interesting and exciting life experience which I would love to be able to say I have done.
