I am an English Specialist Trained with experience in Sri Lankan government schools as well as abroad.I would like to have another new experience in my career because i like to work with different countries with different nationalities. What nationality are you? Sri Lankan What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I speak English fluently. I have advanced knowledge of reading and writing. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I like to work in Cyprus or any mid east country because I like to learn about cultures of people there. What countries have you worked in? I have successfully completed two years as a secondary teacher in the Republic of Maldives. What field do you currently work in? I am working as a teacher of English for Primary and secondary classes in a government school in Sri Lanka. What qualifications do you hold? I have obtained English Specialist teacher Training Certificate at the English Teacher's College Peradeniya Sti Lanka. I have followed the Higher Diploma Course for Engliah Laguage and Literature at the Distance Education center Maharagama Colombo Sri Lanka. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I think skills are more important because a successful teacher has to think creatively and adopt his or her own methods to motivate the students and upgrade their talents and abilities. Describe the benefits of working with others Team work is more important in any sector. When it comes for decision making and other tasks sharing ideas and knowledge is important. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone at times also can be a benefit. There are times one has to implement one's own decisions to do a job successfully. What was your worst working experience? When I was teaching in the Maldives I had a class which consisted of older boys who were so rough and unruly. I tried my maximum effort to control the class with my patience and tolerance. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Have patience, enthusiasm and learn form other colleagues. What unique skills do you have? I have patience, empathy and creativity in my soul. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? I like to work as a teacher in a school which has ultra modern facilities where i can learn more about education and children. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Reading classics and Literature. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Seminars for teachers of English. Some are so boring and they waste our time.
