I am a 25-year experienced legal secretary presently working for a top Montreal law firm. My experience consists of private banking and finance law, real estate law, tax law as well as many many years of corporate-commercial experience.
What nationality are you?
I am Canadian and presently live just outside of Montreal.
What languages do you speak (and at what level)?
I am fluently bilingual in English and French, both oral and written.
What country or area are you looking to work in and why?
I would like to find a new challenging employer in D.R., preferably in the area of Soshua-Cabarete. Santo Domingo is also an alternative which I would consider.
What countries have you worked in?
I've always worked in Canada.
What countries do you have a visa to work in?
For the moment I have no visa. Should an opportunity occur, I will definitely take the necessary steps to acquire the required visa.
What field do you currently work in?
I am a legal secretary presently using Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook programs.
What fields have you worked in before?
I've also had the opportunity to work in the Private financial banking sector.
What qualifications do you hold?
During my years of experience, I had to familiarize myself with various aspects of today’s technology, including different word processing systems. I am capable of establishing priorities, working quickly and efficiently and require minimum supervision. I am well-organized, have a lot of initiative and am capable of handling a tremendous workload.
Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?
Formal education is the base for any willingness for achievement. Skills and additional understanding are a must as technology advances so quickly today we must be up to par to be competitive.
Describe the benefits of working with others
The benefits of working on a team is team spirit. A constant exchange of ideas from various individuals working together can positively boost an enterprise way above normal.
Describe the benefits of working alone
There are also many benefits of working alone. A personal timeframe can be determined therefore giving me the possibility of personally organizing time, effort and skill.
What was your worst working experience?
I have been very lucky. I have not had any negative work experiences. All changes of employment were taken to acquire more cognizance and experience.
What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?
The most important thing I've learned through my many legal years experience is discretion. Being in the legal field, I have had to deal with many small and big files which required a tremendous amount of discretion depending on the parties invovled.
What unique skills do you have?
I am very good working with Word. It is my daily working tool as well as Excel and Powerpoint.
What would you consider as your 'dream job'?
The magic question. I am 49 years old therefore I know what I want and what I do not want anymore. My dream job would seriously be being able to relocate to D.R. and work with a bright, energetic group of people in the tourism industry. I enjoy dealing with people, I have a very nice personality and get along well with all nationalities.
What are the most interesting aspects of your field?
Being in the legal field, I am kept apprised of the most recent legal developments on the market. I am always renewing my skills by keeping up to date with the most recent computer technology.
Wjat are the least interesting aspects of your field?
There are no least interesting aspects of any job. My understanding is that if someone does have some least interesting aspects, it's time for a change to a new employment.
How would you describe the management philosophy of the organization?
In order for a company to be top-ranking, a very tight relationship is required and a constant exchange of insight and opinion is required to fulfill today's requirements of a business.
