electrical workWhat type of job are you looking for? I am an electrical contractor, looking for project type work, two- three weeks at a time roughly. What nationality are you? US citizen What languages do you speak (and at what level)? just English, but can struggle with Spanish. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I have been in the DR before- Luperon, and loved it. can also work in Haiti I should think. What countries have you worked in? just here in the US What countries do you have a visa to work in? just the US What field do you currently work in? I am an electrical contractor, in upstate NY. I do mostly commercial but also custom homes. What fields have you worked in before? some high voltage, built a 46kv substation and 13.2kv meter pole, and distribution systems. I have wired a camp ground, amusement park, stores, condos, etc.. I can do emt, mc, conduit, etc. What qualifications do you hold? E-1 unlimited contractor's license, state of CT. USA Master's license, city of Utica NY USA 30+ years experience Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? both, education trade school and some college, but certainly the skill of running my own business and doing the work. Describe the benefits of working with others group effort, team effort, good to see a day's work done and share the gratification in it- meeting deadlines. Describe the benefits of working alone no pressure and get time to think it through, better for the customer if its a small job. What was your worst working experience? bad customers always make it difficult, but they are customers none the less. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? be honest, be nice, and do the best one can. What unique skills do you have? I take on unique projects, design build contracts, I like a challenge and the contractor customer relationship that develops through the project. I can read electrical drawings- What would you consider as your 'dream job'? I would like to get away during the winter. my dream job is to work in the islands, work hard seven days a week, long hours, for a few weeks and then get some time to come home- go back and forth. I would like to take care of my responsibilities at home, minimal as they are in winter. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? I am excited to put together special and functional systems- something unusual that most would not try to do. I enjoy planning a job and figuring out ways to save money and labor. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? none really- I enjoy what I do. wait a minute, no, pulling romex in 20 below zero is not interesting at all! why should we hire you? I am 55, strong and successful. I need a change from the winter weather, but also must be considerate to my wife's needs - so I cannot commit for more then a month at a time . I do not require a big salary, just an opportunity. I would love to train novice electricians to wire condos or houses for example.
