Looking for Technical WorkWhat type of job are you looking for? I would do well in a technical role, either recordkeeping, preventative maintenance or training. What nationality are you? I am first Canadian, but hold dual citizenship with the United States of America. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? Well versed and very fluent english. From previous experience I am casual in Spanish and eager to learn it better. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I have preferences for Chile, Argentina as well as Equador. I have visited all three previously and feel comfortable with the social climate and customs. There is still so much to explore with the places and people. What countries have you worked in? Canada, USA, Qatar, Lebanon, Syria, Argentina and Australia. What countries do you have a visa to work in? None at the moment. What field do you currently work in? Currently in pipeline oriented work, from compressor and pipeline operations to maintenance on a preventative level. What fields have you worked in before? I have experience and schooling in radio/television, which honed my report and technical writing skills. Pipeline training operations in Argentina. 5-7 years in construction management. What qualifications do you hold? Degree in Journalism and multiple training certificates for on-site training. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I digressed from my formal education into techical work. It was a passion, an adventure and a personal challenge; anything but work persay. I found that the skills acquired are what I wind up passing along to others. Formal education is a great way to start. I feel my path (skill acquisition) has left me with valuable assets to use and pass on. Describe the benefits of working with others The most obvious benefit is task oriented cooperation. Team working with others, in my experience has been the most productive way to accomplishment. I work well with others using necessary skills like listening, understanding, mutual planning and participation towards the goal. Describe the benefits of working alone I am able to set my priorities and timetable for a goal. I enjoy the focus and attention to detail that comes with the responsibility of being solely accountable for a project. Reaching out when necessary is also a part of working alone. Too much self centered focus can't be a good thing! What was your worst working experience? My worst experience was a situation where there was constant undermining of job responsibilities, inadequate training and job direction in a results oriented situation. If a factory cannot commit to goals and directions and subsequently have no control over workforce responsibilities, then I consider it a losing cause for any benefit to being there. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Never underestimate the expectations of others. By always trying to exceed them, you do the best job you possibly could. What unique skills do you have? To learn, turn and explain. To work and develop the ideas of others with them. Technical reading and writing. Information gathering. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Interesting location. Imparting information and applied skills to others. Learning from others. Creating and maintaining a mutual regard for the benefit of all. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The technical side and the interaction with interesting people. Learning a new skill or method. Applying knowledge and seeing results. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Repetition of necessary tasks. Why do you want to work away from your home country? The world is too intersting to miss. A sense of adventure and independance serves to better myself and those around me.
