Egypt or Middle Eastern countries as I now live in North Cyprus and it would make visits back here a lot easier from these locations. What countries have you worked in? Scotland and North Cyprus What field do you currently work in? Community What fields have you worked in before? General Medicine, Care of the Elderly, Outpatients, Women's Health and Gynaecology, General Surgery What qualifications do you hold? Diploma of Higher Education in Nursing Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Both as they go hand in hand, without formal education you cannot gain skills. Formal education teaches new skills and in turn you can use those skills to enhance others practise in education. Describe the benefits of working with others Working with others as part of a multi-disciplinary team lets you have a holistic view of the care delivered to patients. Combined with good leadership skills we are able to deliver better health care. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone often gives time for reflection of your practise and more study time. However it has it's drawbacks as often another opinion is useful in situations. What was your worst working experience? Don't really have one as lessons are often learned through tragedy. And at the end of the day when you finish work if you can say you did your best for the patient you should have no regrets. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Never to think that I know it all and not be afraid to ask others for advise if I am not sure how to handle a situation. Also that good organisational skills help to ease the ward workload. What unique skills do you have? Being able to communicate with people of all ages and through all walks of life, never judgmental. Being able to adapt quickly to new surroundings and situations. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? My dream job is Nursing and nursing is my world. I would like to work in a hospital that has up to the minute technology available. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? People and new breakthroughs in the medical and nursing fields. Would you be willing to take part in a student mentorship programme yes as I assessed both Clinical Support workers as well as student nurse and newly qualified staff in Scotland.
