CNE, A+, N+, and MCSE along with 20 years in the IT Field. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Skills, I am a gracious self taught Computer Network Engineer that got lucky and found a mentor. I learned the fundamentals from Tom McDermott my mentor while I studied on my owned to become certified in all aspects of computer networking and security. Education is important for the fundamentals but cannot teach skills acquired from trial and error. Describe the benefits of working with others Combined knowledge is more powerful than knowledge itself. Describe the benefits of working alone I currently own and operate Wave Point Networking, Inc. I enjoy making my own hours and working with multiple clients. Working alone guarantees the best possible customer service for all my clients. What was your worst working experience? Contract job for a company named Vita Foam. The IT personnel before me was so incompetent it was almost impossible to gain the clients trust which made my job very difficult. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Never assume, always look to documentation. Not knowing the fundamentals of your field is like a body without bones, a failure will transpire. What unique skills do you have? Blue belt in Taekwondo working toward black and beyond. Skilled in photography, history, astronomy and or science in general. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Working in IT in the Tropics making enough money to support my family. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Data packet flow, network security, file system security, and network administration. What are the least interesting aspects of your field?
