Looking for Bar JobWhat type of job are you looking for? Looking for a bar job to help me settle in Finland. Have 7 years experience in customer service and management positions in bars in the UK. What nationality are you? English What languages do you speak (and at what level)? Fluent English, little French, little German, learning Finnish. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? Finland, preferably in Uusimaa region as this is where I am located. What countries have you worked in? England and Finland. What countries do you have a visa to work in? I am an EU citizen and have permanent residence in Finland. What field do you currently work in? Currently unemployed. What fields have you worked in before? Worked in several fields. Many bar positions including management. Have also worked in financial services, government offices, banking and as an English teacher. What qualifications do you hold? BA (Honours) Humanities degree in English Literature, Language and Social History. Have applied to enter a Masters degree programme in Helsinki in English Philology. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I believe that formal education is very important in terms of getting yourself noticed by companies who are looking for certain criteria. However, I also feel that experience is vital in order to obtain the necessary skills in a job. I think that both areas are of equal importance. Describe the benefits of working with others In my experience, I have always taken joy out of working as part of a larger team. Firm friendships develop that will hold you in good stead for the rest of your life. When things go well and you are part of a team everybody feels good. Describe the benefits of working alone Sometimes, depending on the project, it is easier to work on your own. You get your own ideas across, without interruption. However, there are also a lot of bad things, as when you work on your own all of the pressure of any task is firmly left on your shoulders. What was your worst working experience? I think the worst experience is when you can't find a job. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Patience with other people and also patience with myself.
