pharmaceutical sales, i.e. BotoxWhat type of job are you looking for? For the past 10+ years I have been in the alternative health field. Recently I closed my office and have been thinking about a career change. So i started thinking....how about working on the other side of the medical arena. One of my friends mentioned the idea about pharmaceutical sales and my first reaction was, why would I want to do that? But I stepped back and really starting pondering why I was so quick to say that. So instead now I think..why not! What nationality are you? caucasian What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English (well)..some college spanish (not fluent at all) What country or area are you looking to work in and why? USA, preferably the east coast What countries have you worked in? USA only. But willing to travel What field do you currently work in? Chiropractor What fields have you worked in before? Healthcare What qualifications do you hold? bachelors in sports medicine, Doctorate in chiropractic Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? A combination of the two actually. Because I have seen many book smart people not becoming successful in what they do and vise versa. One of my beliefs in life is everything in moderation...even moderation. Describe the benefits of working with others The possibilities when you work and learn from others is limitless. As a boy I loved the author Ralph Waldo Emerson and how he wrote a book by just spending time on strangers porch steps listening to their lifes adventures. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone has its benefits and some negatives. This I believe can be summed up in a few words which would have to deal with ones self motivation. If one is a self motivated individual he or she can become very successful in whatever they are trying to accomplish and vise versa again. If one is working alone and is not self motivated then it could be the end of them. What was your worst working experience? Working as a painter for my brother. Some days it would be close to 100 degrees and we would have to pressure wash a house all day, surrounded by water and at the same time being almost dehydrated because off the amount of fluids we wouldd lose. I would have to say it would feel the same as being deserted on a raft in the ocean dying of thirst...where all that you can see is water but not being able to consume any of it or else it would shorten your life rather quickly. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? That the human body is an amazing machine and never write anyone's healthcare off just because a medical doctor said to just learn to live with it. I can not tell you how many times I was regarded as a last resort to a patient who had tried everything conceivable and then finally gave in to "chiropractic" thinking it would also be a dead end. Then after working with them the smiles on their faces when they said thank you..and i can't believe how much better I am doing etc. What unique skills do you have? I like to make people laugh. I don't think that is too unique, but in my field of work I can definitely say the old addage is true that laughter is a one of the best medicines. One of my long time patient's always refers her friends to me by saying things such as.."well I don't know a good chiropractor but i will tell you the name of mine!". What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Something that is not too physical, involves some traveling, and gives me the oppurtunity to spend some quality time with my daughter when I get her. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The diversity. There are more then one way to change a light bulb, just like there are more then one way to help a person heal. If you have no patience in my field, you will truly have no patients. Listening to the patient is key and always interesting. If you are a good listener, they will tell you what is wrong with them. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? The insurance companies. Why? Why not?
