Certificate for working with homeless populations- University of Calgary, Health Care Provider-Canadian Red Cross, Suicide Intervention,Non-Violent Crisis intervention Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I believe that skills are more valuable, although formal education is important to grasp the basics, a person will become more capable of adjusting and adapting to different situations if they use the skills that they have aquired from first hand experience. Describe the benefits of working with others When working with others it is much easier to learn the important skill of the job. Working with others give a person the chance to improve on skills that may need improving on as well as giving the person the chance to help others improve on their skills that may need improving on. Working with others should ensure that all view-points are covered, so it makes problem solving more efficient. Describe the benefits of working alone When working alone, a person learns to rely on themselves for problem solving skills, they become more accountable to themselves and to the employer. Working alone can be more organized at times. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? To have paitence. What unique skills do you have? I'm great at working with people, either as co-workers or clients. I learn new things very quickly, am very organized and make myself accountable to not only myself but to my employer. I'm always ready to take on a new challenge, and treat every new problem with a fresh set of eyes. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Working at an orphanage in a 3rd world country What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Meeting new people, hearing their stories, being there when they hit bottom, seeing them complete recovery, seeing the humanity that they still have even though they have nothing else, seeing their ability to hold their heads high, despite being homeless.
