The Gambia, I currently live here for six months and would like to secure a job in my sector so I may return in one years time What countries have you worked in? India and the United States What countries do you have a visa to work in? The United States, once a job is secured I will apply for a visa. What field do you currently work in? A student of International Conflict Studies. My part time jobs are retail, conference planning, and observing private security training. What fields have you worked in before? Lifeguarding, Swim Instructor, Publishing Company intern, Telethon caller, Retail, Event Planning and Driver What qualifications do you hold? I am one year away from holding my Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts. I have received nominations for awards in my retail job at Eddie Bauer and a commendation for promptness at my driving job. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Formal education and skills. Often you need one to build on the other. Right now I have a formal education and can train for skills. Describe the benefits of working with others More people working in a team allows for a greater pool of ideas and mobility as well as the delegation of work. Describe the benefits of working alone The ability to make a decision with out needing the full group support and to immediately act on it, also you can work more hours on your own at all times. What was your worst working experience? As a Tele-a-thon caller, my boss was incredibly inappropriate and made a bad working environment. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Criticism is not failure, only feedback for you to be better the next time. What unique skills do you have? Good customer service, mediation, and good observation skills What would you consider as your 'dream job'? To work for a good company in Serrekunda, Gambia and not behind a desk. Currently everything that gets me out and about is appealing. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The analysis of the cause of conflict. (I am a student at university for International Conflict Studies) What are the least interesting aspects of your field? The history of negotiating peace.
