Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Whilst formal qualifications are the basis for any role skill, competancy and confidence in ones own ability to perform that role are of the utmost importance.

Co workers can learn from each others experiances and by example teach and therefore disseminate knowledge and skills to one another.

Time management, organisational skills and a provision of a better service enable a worker to provide an optimum service to patients/service users.

Having to work under an employer who refused to modernise/update their skills, or in any way change their practice to meet latest evidence/research based practice. This person was also prejudiced against many people for reasons such as race/colour, social status, lack of education etc..

I can always learn new things/skills and adapt my practice to provide a better service.
