What type of job are you looking for?

i have a wide experience in general medicine and i'm at present working in the community as a matron leading in the provision of care in the primary sector although i work for the nhs i would very much like a job also ensure best practice in ghana health care is maintained

What nationality are you?

i am a british national but i was born in ghana and i have one parent who permenantly resides there.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

i speak english and i understand and speak twi to a moderate level

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

i am looking to work in ghana because i would like to have the expeirence of working for the ghanaian health service and to help bring up the standards which it is not achieving at the moment

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

england and america

What field do you currently work in?

community nursing as a general matron

What fields have you worked in before?

medical admission endocrinalogy and diabetes infection control accident and emergency elderly care and general medical urology

What qualifications do you hold?

registered general nurse

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

i con sider both of these to be valuable in differing degrees because withformal education the person with some effort can gain the skills by practising what they have been taught and be able to evaluate the outcome,but with skill the person is able to carryoput the task with expertise but they may not be able to back it with the knowledge required without formal education as backup and evaluate the skill in practice, and therefore they do not improve.

Describe the benefits of working with others

the benefits of working with others are many. such as learning of skills and sharing of knowledge and being able to gain some expertise from other apart from your self being able to share sucesses as well as what did not work so well.

Describe the benefits of working alone

autonomy self reliance gaining of new skills and learning to manage alone self directed decision making own time schedule

What was your worst working experience?

my worst experience was when i was a ward manager and was unsupported and therfore left to feel extremely stressed

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

to ask for help and advice no matter who the person giving the advice unquqlified can also impart very good clinical advice, to not be reserved in seeking clarification of knowledge and skills.

What unique skills do you have?

i am calm and able to ensure that what is required to in a disruptive situation is carried out quickly and orderly fashion. iam not easily shaken and like to tackle adversity head on

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

my dream job would be to do simular job as now within the community for medical nursing of adult care but in the ghananian health service working with colleques who have a like mind to improving the service of health.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

the most interesting aspect of the medical field is that you encounter everything from mental health to minor surgical operation also dealing with all aspects of the medical and health field professionals i also experience dealing with the social service and department of health.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

the least interesting aspect the field is the increased load on documentation and less time which it leaves for the patient care and ocassional multidisciplary conflicts which hinder the care.
