I am a "Complementary Health Care Pratitioner". - Trained as a Massage Therapist - Thai Herbal Stem Massage - Jade Stone Massage - Aromatherapist Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I think both education & skills are comparatively important ... and perhaps somewhat dependant on the job/task. First the importance of a good education should not be under-estimated & forms the framework from which your skills can build. In the case of massage - knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, etc. are of upmost importance in providing safe, effective treatments. BUT - you build on that knowledge with years of experience by working on many different bodies with many different issues. And, (the short answer) above all - I think - you either have healing hands or you don't! Describe the benefits of working with others It is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills when working with others. Sometimes - you learn what not to do! Describe the benefits of working alone The benefit to me working alone - is that I can focus what I do best. That is - let my hands do what they are meant to do! What was your worst working experience? My worst working experience - telemarketing for a vaccuum company. It sucked! LOL I quit after a month - the money wasn't worth harassing people at home & tricking them into a demonstration. Unethical, really. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? The most important thing I have learned in my career is to love what you do ... because if you don't, it shows in your work. Besides, life is too short & unpredictable to work at something that doesn't make your soul sing. What unique skills do you have? I have developed many skills through the research, creation, development & operation of my massage business in Canada. - marketing/advertising - accounting - daily operations/customer service What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Beach or pool-side massage ... surrounded by happy people! Set-up another massage business abroad? What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Definitely the clients - love meeting new people & making them feel fantastic! What are the least interesting aspects of your field? It can get monotonous - repetitiveness! My body hurts at the end of the day & wish I could have a massage too! Why should an employer hire you? I should be concidered for employment because I would be an asset to your company. I am well trained, mature, responsible, independant & honest. How can potential employers contact you? dagny69@gmail.com |
